As you may be aware, Brisbane City Council has advised that proposed strike action will affect bus services from 2pm to 6pm on Friday 28 July 2017. Bus services may begin to be impacted from as early as 1pm.   The action is due to a dispute between BCC bus services and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union; and relates to BCC bus services only.    This industrial action is likely to have major impacts across the Brisbane metropolitan transport network, including Brisbane City Council bus services that transport some state school students home from school. Parents and carers of affected students will need to consider alternative school transport arrangements. All schools will be open as normal on Friday and regular school attendance and roll marking procedures will be observed.   I understand that many Principals have already made local plans to minimise the impact on their school. I encourage you to continue doing this, seeking advice from your Assistant Regional Director or Regional Office if required Advice from Brisbane City Council is that parents and commuters should actively refer to the Translink app, website, or contact 13 12 30 for updates. I sincerely thank you for your support in managing this issue.
