School is in full swing!

Mr Brix working with his 3A students.

It is lovely to see all of our students back in their uniforms and filing into school after the Christmas vacation.  To those parents and their children who are new to Samford, an especially warm welcome.  I hope your time with us will be a rewarding.  For parents who are returning, I hope to catch up with you over the coming days and weeks.

We have escaped much of the impact of the recent weather event.  We haven’t lost our power supply at all but the ovals and grounds have been affected by a significant load of water.  I am not sure if the children will play on the ovals this week as the grounds are very wet and soggy, and quite a large amount of water remains stagnant in low areas.  The creek at the back of the school flooded as usual and dumped quite an amount of debris over the lower oval.  The wind stripped a lot of vegetation from trees and small limbs etc., and will be cleared as soon as possible.  A number of small trees were flattened by the wind gusts and these have been made safe in all cases.  I would like to thank Andrew Long and his family as they arrived at school on Monday to check on the grounds and Andrew used his chainsaw to remove any trees that were blocking roads and pathways and also ensured the grounds were safe for Tuesday.  Thanks Andrew.

For those families who have not fared as well as we have, our thoughts are with you.  I hope you get back to normal quickly and electricity is restored as soon as possible.  We will certainly make sure your children are well cared for and straight back into learning activities.
