Why are we doing this event? The Samford State School P&C have arranged this event to raise funds for a new Ninja Warrior playspace.
When is it?Years 4, 5 & 6 ran their Colour Run event on Tuesday 14 September.  Due to fierce winds, the Colour Run for Prep, Y1, Y2 & Y3 was postponed.  The new date for the Prep, Y1, Y2 & Y3 will be Wednesday 6 October, Week 1 Term 4.
Do I need to complete a new permission slip for Prep, Y1, Y2 or Y3? No.  If you have already signed a permission slip, this will still be valid for Wednesday 6 October.
What time will my child be running?

NOTE: The run times for Wednesday 6 October are different for your child.

I had already volunteered, how will this change for the new date?

If you are now unable to commit to Wednesday 6 October please let us know as soon as possible or adjust this on the volunteer register.  volunteersignup.org/YETTH

What do they wear?

A white tshirt, old shorts, old socks and running shoes.

Will the Uniform Shop still be selling white tshirts leading up to the 6 October? No.  All stock has been sold.
What do students need to bring on the day?Students can wear their white shirts and old shorts to school.  They will need to bring their school uniform to change into after their colour run and a plastic bag to put their dirty clothes in.  They will also need a towel, waterbottle and glasses / goggles (optional).
Can I take my child home after they run?Yes, you may opt to take your child home after they have had their fun. You will need to sign them out at the office before leaving.  All children remaining at school will participate in some fun activities.
Will there be any other activities on this day?We have organised a giant inflatable obstacle course.

Product Information

What's in the colour powder? The powder is made from corn starch and food dye.  It's non toxic, biodegradable, skin safe and environmentally friendly.  A Safety Data Sheet is available here.
Does it hurt your eyes? The powder does not hurt eyes, however, children can choose to bring their own glasses or goggles when they run to avoid any irritation.
Does the colour wash out of my clothes? Not very well.  It is advisable to wear old clothes that can be thrown away if they don't come clean.
Can I preserve the colour in my shirt? If you would like to preserve the rainbow of colours in your shirt, spray it with vinegar, let it dry and then iron it.  The colour will, however, eventually come out if you wash it.
Will the powder colour my hair? For those with light coloured hair, it is possible that the powder may stain the hair for a short while.  To avoid this, use a coconut oil to coat the hair before your run.

Spectator Information

Can parents come and watch?Absolutely!  We are hopeful most parents will be available to come along and enjoy the fun.  Parents, community members, grandparents, siblings – all are welcome.  Unfortunately, only students will be permitted to participate in the planned activities.
Will there be an opportunity to help on the day?

Yes please!!  We will need many volunteers on the day to help make this a very special occasion for our students.  Please register via our Volunteer Sign-up here  volunteersignup.org/YETTH
